| July 2008 I broke my arm sparring at Worlds. I have a big green cast that goes from my hand all the way up to my shoulder. I am creating and choreographing a one handed sword form to Beowulf music - so I can compete with it in Atlanta. - Kyle |

June 2007 Our performance was awesome! The film that Mr Lee and Mr Truitner made was unbelievably cool! It played on the really big screen in the arena. I was 20 feet tall. It was like a movie theater. Everybody told me that they really liked it. I came close to winning a world championship – but fell short again. I got 2nd in xma weapons, 2nd in traditional form and 3rd in xma open hand form. My friend Jordan got both xma championships in xma – good for him. I hope I can try again next year. The US Open is coming up maybe I can do well in that. Team FLOW invited me onto their team – after the performance. My dad said we’ll see – because I have so much more going on. This was the best worlds ever! I liked the acting and performance better than the tournament. I hope I can do more of that. Well, got to go! Later… - Kyle |
May 2007 A couple of weeks ago I flew by myself out to LA to work out with the world demo team. Jeremy and Jordan were there and flipped like crazy. We worked on the performance we’re going to do at worlds. Then, the next week I flew out to LA with my dad and shot some film for the performance at worlds. It was so cool! It was so much fun – really awesome! I play the part of Adam in the show. He is a boy trying to decide whether go into taekwondo for ATA. We shot so many scenes in the 3 days we were there. In one scene I hit a baseball and it broke a light. They said it was okay - though. A bully pushed me down and knocked my books out of hand in another one. Then, Mr Lee and I ran away from 3 ninjas only to be confronted by another. In the last scene, I juked a ninja to get through the ATA door. I love acting and performing. I can’t wait to see the film when it is all put together. - Kyle |
April 2007 This month we went to Islands of Adventure – it was awesome! I think I ate too much because I had a belly ache when we were driving home. It was worth it. My sister had a birthday and she got a kitten. She named him Benjamin. Our other cat named Elizabeth doesn't like him too much – but she isn’t mean to him. Jessie’s birthday was on Easter which was kind of weird. Everybody at school wants me to try out for the cheerleading team because I can do so many flips. Another boy is going to tryout – so I probably will do it. That’s all I have this time – bye! - Kyle |
March 2007 Just got back from spring nationals – it was a lot of fun. The World Demo Team did the Songham X form again. I got 1st in form, traditional weapon, xma open hand and 2nd in xma weapon. The flight was really long and boring. I couldn’t sleep coming home and it seemed like it lasted forever. We had a school dance last night and my friend Jay and I did a dance off with some other kids – it was cool. They all like it when I do flips – when I dance. I think we’re going to a tournament in Tampa next week – wish me luck. Got to go… bye. - Kyle |
February 2007 I think I’m going to try out for my school’s cheerleading team. All the girls in my class want me to. They all like how I can do flips. I think another boy is gonna try out with me – he can do flips too. They really like my walk back webster. My dad said he will put a video up on the web site soon. I want to do a youtube video too. I hope I can. I’m going to gymnastics in a couple of minutes, so I need to go. Later dude… - Kyle |
January 2007 Christmas was awesome and the break from school was really good. I went to a tournament in Valdosta and competed against my friend Jordan. He beat me in both xma events this time. I beat him in both in Orlando a few months earlier. I need to get ready for worlds because he’s going to be tough to beat. Spring nationals is coming soon and I can’t wait to work out with the world demo team. I think we are going to Texas for a tournament too. I’ve been working on my b-twist to split, I hope I can add it to my form. My dad says only when I can do it 5 times in a row – really clean. Well, I’ve got lots of homework and it’s already late. I’ll write next month some time. I’m atta here! Later dudes. - Kyle |
December 2006 We just had our black belt testing and I tested for my 3rd degree – and got it. I can’t wait to compete with the bo staff in traditional form. School is off until next year (2007) and Christmas is just a couple of days away! I’ll write next month – there is way too much going on now to think about. The ATA World magazine came out and I’m on the cover with Abraham Tran. That was a lot of fun doing that! Bye for now. - Kyle |
November 2006 It’s Thanksgiving break and I just finished a whole bunch of tests at school. I think I did pretty well. We had a tournament last week in Perry Georgia and I got to compete with my new kama form for the first time. I was lucky enough to win with it. Everybody asked me why I wasn’t doing the speed racer form any more. I guess I was ready for a new challenge. I got to see my friend Tyler McBride. We tricked after the tournament – it was fun. We had a school dance and my friend Jay and I did a dance off with a some other kids – it was awesome. I freak out my friends because I do so many flips when I dance. A teacher told us to be careful – after I did a back tuck during one dance. I’ll write more next month. See ya! - Kyle |
October 2006 We just got back from Fall Nationals in Orlando and I did pretty well. I got 1st in both XMA events and 2nd in sparring. The World Demo Team showed everybody a new form called Songham X. We learned it in a couple of days. I also took some pictures for the ATA World magazine. That was fun! I did it with a nice guy named Abraham Tran. He was on the Final Fu show. He is on the cover with me. He was great to work with. They had me hold a sub when I took one of the pictures and when we were done - I ate it. We stayed at the place where they hold the US Open (Coronado Springs) and it was confusing to walk around all the buildings – but it was cool. Talk to you later… - Kyle |
September 2006 I’ve been so busy this month. Lots of competitions and lots of schoolwork. I’ve started to work with the kamas again and I am making a routine with my dad that I can compete with. We also went down to Marc Canonizado’s school in Orlando and I got a chance to work out with him, Mr William and Mr Tariq. That was so much fun and I learned a lot. Marc jumps so high – it is almost unbelievable. I hope I get a chance to do that again. I’ve got to go – I have a lot of homework I need to get done because we are going to a tournament in Pittsburgh in a couple of days. I’ll see ya’ later. - Kyle |
August 2006 Hey everyone! It's that time again, school. But this year is different, I get to go to middle school. And what's really cool is that I can ride my bike to school. It is about a 1/2 mile away. I ride with my friend Christian every morning and we lock our bikes up in front of the school. Already they started giving us lots of homework. My mom teaches middle school and she told me they give a lot of homework in 6th grade. I went to a tournament in Dallas and got 1st in XMA weapons, 2nd in XMAS forms and 1st in traditional forms. I also got to meet my Uncle John and Aunt Mary Ann - and they were really nice. I miss the summer already - it was way too short. I will write more next month. Good bye. - Kyle |
July 2006 Summer is here! I've been swimming every day. We went to Universal Studios last week and I really liked the revenge of the mummy roller coaster. It was awesome and really scarey. I also went to Fort Meyers and Atlanta tournaments this month. I got 1st in XMA open hand at both and 1st in XMA weapon at both. My mom and dad got me a dirt bike for my birthday, it's electric and doesn't make any noise but it goes really fast. I go faster than all the bikes in the neighborhood - it's really cool. My karate school did a karate demo down at the mall. I did my XMA forms and the people liked it. A gymnastic team brought some mats so I could do all my flips. I can't believe it but school starts in a week. Summer went by so fast. I'll write some more next month. Bye. - Kyle |
June 2006 My thumb is better and I practiced my XMA forms real hard at the beginning of the month. We just got back from Worlds and we (the world demo team) put together an awesome show! It was called the Legend of Baeoh. It was a play and I was one of the tigers. We worked really late at night for 3 days before the tournament so we could perform at opening ceremonies. It made us all very tired. But the show was great! We all got to work with Mr Taekwon Lee and Mr Michael Chat and that was cool! Our leaders, Master Kim and Mr Espinosa, showed us how to act each scene out. They were great. I was so tired for the top 10 competitions on Friday and I got 3rd in the XMA open hand and tied for 4th in the traditional form. I did not do them as well as I would have liked. But the Legend of Baeoh show was awesome! We had so much fun and I can't wait to see the DVD that comes out. Check out my photo album for some cool pictures! On Saturday night I did my XMA weapon and I lost control of the bo staff for a second and I got 3rd place. What a bummer! Hopefully I will do better next year. We're also going a vacation soon. I'll write some more next month. Bye. - Kyle |
May 2006 Hi everyone! I'm really glad school is out, I need a break from all the homework and tests. Summer is here and we are planning on doing a lot of swimming. I haven't been swimming yet because I was doing a back tuck and I hurt my thumb really bad. I have had this cast on it for 2 weeks now and it still hurts. I can't practice my flips or spin my bo staff. My dad and I hope it gets better soon because Worlds is coming soon. I'm going to 2 castings next week in Tampa. My dad says they are for infomercials, I hope I get them. We went to Universal Studio this week and I went on some scarey rides. They were a lot of fun! I really hope this thumb gets better because I can't do a whole lot without it. I'll write more next month. - Kyle |
April 2006 I went to Disney World in Orlando and shot some film in a resort. I shot 3 scenes. In one scene I was chasing a girl around on the boardwalk. In another I was eating ice cream and talking to the same girl about our favorite rides. And then I went to a water park and we were sliding down this water slide and crashing into the water. It was so much fun. It was awesome! I got all A's on my progress report at school. I went to a tournament in Orlando and I won 1st in XMA open hand, 1st in XMA weapon and 1st in traditional form. There was a lot of room at this place and I rode my heelys all around the tournament. I also went to Tampa for the last tournament of the year and I missed my back tuck in my form and hit my head on the hard floor. I was really dizzy doing the rest of my form. I was lucky to get 2nd. I got 1st in XMA weapons and 3rd in traditional form. See you next month! Bye. - Kyle |
March 2006 Wow, I have been so busy this month. Las Vegas was great! We went to a restaurant where you could all the shrimp you want! I ate like 30 of them! I competed and won 1st in XMA weapons, 2nd in XMA open hand and 2nd in sparring. I practiced with the World Demo Team and it was awesome! We did a really good show. Mike Chat met the team and he was great! He told us that Mr Moh and Mr Kim were going to try out for a Jackie Chan movie. I hope I get a chance to do that some day. I also went to a tournament in Tallahassee and got two 1st places and two 2nd places. My dad didn't let me spar because of some TV castings that I had to try out for. I went to 4 different ones in Orlando. We are waiting to hear about 3 of them. I got one at Disney. I am going to Disney to shoot some kind of resort video. I can't wait! I love doing the TV stuff! Well got to go. I'm going to a couple more tournaments soon. I'll write more next month. Bye. - Kyle |
February 2006 My dad and I went to Orlando and I had some pictures taken, it was fun. The photographer kept making we laugh. His name was Mr. Cairns and the pictures are cool! We went to Pittsburgh for a tournament and it was so cold. Dad said it was 5 degrees. I have never been so cold in my life and my nose froze when I was breathing. I got 1st in XMA weapons, 3rd in XMA open hand, 2nd in forms and 3rd in sparring. We are going to Las Vegas in two days for spring nationals. I can't wait to work out and perform with the World Demo Team. It's going to be awesome! I'll write again next month. - Kyle |
January 2006 School has started back and the Christmas break is over. I hope everyone had a good Christmas, I know I sure did. I started at a new karate school and my new instructors are real good. Mr and Mrs Gimenez are great and my friends Gabby and Alex go there. I just got back from a tournament in Atlanta. I did pretty well. I got 1st XMA open hand form and 1st in XMA weapons. I did my Speed Racer form for the first time and it was fun. I got 2nd in traditional weapons and 3rd in traditional form. I was happy to see my friends who compete all the time. I had fun with Michael, Travis and Drew before it was time to go. My dad is taking me to Orlando to have some pictures taken next week. I hope everyone is having a good new year. I will write more later. - Kyle |
December 2005 My mom and I got on a plane and flew to Hawaii. It took so long to get there. I didn't think we would ever get there. When we got there I was so tired. I was happy to see all the Subway Champions again. We went to a luau and we eat a roasted pig. I watched them cut it up. We all went to a beach and did some commercials. I met Bethany Hamilton and she was nice. She helped me learn how to surf. It was fun. We trained with Andy Potts, Rachel Sears and AJ, they all do triathlons. We went on a boat and saw dolphins and whales it was cool. After I came back we had our black belt testing and did the demo with the XMA demo team. It was great. It’s Christmas break now and we’re only a couple of days away from the big day. This is my favorite time of the year. Happy New Year! My dad did some fireworks in the street and they were really colorful and loud. Got to go. Will write more next month. - Kyle |
November 2005 My friend Michael and I went to a tournament in Chicago on the first Saturday of the month. I got 1st in Extreme Open hand, 1st in Extreme Weapon, 2nd in Traditional form, 2nd in Sparring, 3rd in Traditional weapon. Then we went to the top of the John Hancock tower – my ears popped going up in the elevator. And we ate at the Bubba Gump restaurant, we grubbed on some serious shrimp. I have been flipping with my friend Mr. Graneri at gymnastics and we have been having fun. I’ve got my back flash and back layout now. I’m still working on my b-twist and back tuck. I’ve almost got them. JR is helping me too. She’s my gymnastics coach. We went to a tournament in Perry Georgia and I got 1st in Extreme Open hand, 1st in Extreme Weapon, 1st in Traditional form. See ya next month. - Kyle |
October 2005 I was picked to be a Subway Champion. My family and I made a fake TV commercial and our entry won. I went to Dallas with my mom and dad and did a TV commercial with the other Subway Champions. It was a lot of fun. They all did different stuff like skating, wave boarding, fencing, softball, gymnastics, soccer, triathlons, volleyball and bike racing. They put makeup on me and I did some bo staff flips and spins on a stage with smoke all around. It was neat. We are supposed to go to Hawaii in a month to do some more stuff for Subway. I went to the Fall Nationals tournament and got 1st in both XMA events. I also got first in forms. I got to workout and perform with the World Demo Team for the first time and that was awesome. They are really good and I made some new friends. I met Tiffany, Jeremy, Jordan and a whole bunch of other really good martial artists. Tiffany’s mom took us to Marc Conanizado’s school and we did some forms there. I’ve never seen anyone jump or kick as high as Marc Conanizado. I got my first report card and got all A’s. I will write more another time. - Kyle |
